At Urban Betty, our Associate Program is designed to guide, inspire, and empower you every step of the way.
You’ll receive one-on-one training with our certified educators, as well as in-salon classes led by some of the industry’s top names. Past guest educators include the legendary Sam Villa, Blake Reid Evans, and Tippi Shorter, among others. When you join Urban Betty, you’re learning from the best.
Our program is self-paced, allowing you to grow at a pace that suits you. Most Associates graduate within 6 to 9 months and become confident, independent Level 1 Stylists. Even better? On average, our stylists build their clientele 4x faster than the industry norm.
Once you graduate to Level 1, you’ll start earning real income while continuing to build your dream career in a supportive, education-driven environment.

One-on-One Mentorship
(We call it our Master’s Program for Hairstylists!)
At Urban Betty, we’re proud to be a Summit Salon, and that means your growth is our priority. Our Associate Program includes personalized, one-on-one mentorship with our certified in-house educators. You’ll shadow experienced stylists, hone your technical skills, and gain absolute confidence behind the chair, while being supported every step of the way.

As an Associate, you’ll also receive ongoing training from some of the best in the business, including world-renowned artists and brands like:
- Redken Artists
- Pureology
- Kérastase
We bring these experts directly into the salon so you can level up without ever leaving your workspace.

While your schedule will follow your Educator’s hours during your Associate period, you’ll also be able to choose one weekend day (Saturday or Sunday) to build your books. Once you graduate to a Level 1 Stylist, working evenings and weekends is required, because that’s when your future guests are looking to book with you. As your clientele grows, you’ll gain more flexibility to create the schedule that fits your life.
And if life takes you to a new part of town? We’ve got your back. If there is availability at another Urban Betty location, we’ll work with you to make the transition as smooth as possible.
Program Details
As an Associate, you’ll spend around 30 hours a week working side-by-side with your Educator to sharpen your skills behind the chair. In addition, you’ll take your own guests for 4 to 10 hours weekly, giving you valuable hands-on experience while building your clientele from day one.
This isn’t just shadowing—it’s a full-on career launch. Once you complete the program and meet all graduation requirements, you’ll be offered a full-time position as a Level 1 Stylist at Urban Betty.
What You’ll Be Doing
Throughout the program, you’ll:
- Complete homework assignments
- Work with models to refine techniques.
- Pass skill-based and written tests.
- Build and maintain your social media presence.
To graduate, you’ll need to show you can confidently deliver every service we offer at Urban Betty. We’ll make sure you have the tools, support, and education to make that happen.
How You’ll Be Paid
You’ll earn:
- $13/hour base pay while training with your Educator
- Up to $3/hour in tip-outs when assisting
- $13/hour + full tips during your Opportunity Days when you take guests
Once you graduate and move into a Level 1 Stylist role, your earning potential jumps. On average, Level 1 Stylists at Urban Betty earn $45,000+ annually, with even more room to grow as your experience and skills evolve.
