OUR BETTY OF THE WEEK IS MARTHA LYNN KALE!

I am starting something new this week! I want to celebrate other salon founders as Betty of the Week. While some people may call each other “competition,” I like to call them peers. I couldn’t think of a better person to start with than Martha Lynn Kale, aka @marthalynnkale from @mirrormirroratx!

We met about ten years ago when she first opened Mirror Mirror. We have collaborated on philanthropy, and she said this (not me) that I have graciously been offering her wisdom for a decade. I like to call it “catch up” time, and if I can throw out some business advice here and there, I’m in!

Fun facts about Martha Lynn:

✨When and where did you graduate from?

I graduated from Auburn about 20 years ago and worked in Marketing for a few years before enrolling in Cosmetology School at Baldwin!

✨What did you want to be when you grew up?

A cheerleader! No, really, when I was in first grade, all the kids in my class went around the room at parent’s night and said what they wanted to be when they grew up. I said, cheerleader. As a salon owner who is no longer behind the chair, I feel like that is precisely what I do now. I am my team member’s biggest fan, and I’m constantly pushing them to go farther than they ever knew possible!

✨Where are you from?

After 20 years in Austin, I say I am a Texan, but I am originally from Huntsville, AL.

✨Any side hustles?

My husband and I own a CBD company called Fine Healing Goods. The products are amazing, and it was something we decided to do because the products fit so well with our mindset at Mirror Mirror of being both high performing and safe (fragrance-free, organic, etc.)

✨ Feel free to share anything else fun that makes you unique. 😘

I was born on Leap Day, so I only get a “real” birthday every four years. This year my son and I will both celebrate “10” real birthdays!

Thank you, Martha Lynn, for helping me when I became a parent for the first time this year; your wisdom saved me in more ways than I can say here. I am forever indebted to YOU. Here’s to many more years of success and shared love. #teambetty #urbanbettysalon #urbanbetty
