BANG SERIES PART 4: THE HEART SHAPED FACE

Written by Jessica Tellez, Hairstylist at Urban Betty

Fourth up in the bang series is the heart shaped face. While most think you must have a widows peak to have a true heart shape, the only requisites is a pointed or narrow chin and a wider forehead. This is a pretty controversial statement; also if you don’t concur, we should agree to disagree, or we can agree the upside down triangle is another way of putting it. With that said, I’ve decided to lump both face shapes into one category and call it heart shaped. When considering this look, think Naomi Campbell, Kourtney Kardashian and Reese Witherspoon. Here are a few of my favorite looks for this face shape:

THE STRAIGHT BANG (NOT BLUNT, BUT CHOPPY OR LONG, AND TEXTURED)

Daily Time Commitment:

A few minutes of blow-dry time, if needed for non-straight hair.
If you do have the cowlick/widows peak, this will take more time.
Hairstylist Commitment:

Not the time to flip flop between stylists. You’ll need to find your person and stick with them. Do not attempt to cut your own straight bangs at home.
Trips to the Salon:

Once every 4-6 weeks, depending on your personal growth time

THE LONG CURTAIN BANG (OR BARDOT BANG)

Daily Time Commitment:

A few minutes of blow-dry time.
Easier to style than straight bangs, but I recommend that you still consult with your stylist.
Hairstylist Commitment:

Less complicated than the straight bang, it’s not the end of the world if you go to more than one stylist. Do not attempt to cut these bangs at home.
Trips to the Salon:

Once every 6-8 weeks, depending on your personal growth time

DEEP SIDE-PARTED BANG

Daily Time Commitment:

A few minutes of blow-dry time, if needed for non-straight hair.
If you do have the cowlick/widows peak, this will take more time.
Hairstylist Commitment:

Not the end of the world if you go between a few stylists, but do choose a stylist who is good with cowlicks in bangs if you have them
Trips to the Salon:

Once every 6 weeks, depending on your personal growth time
