What is a tooth gem?

A tooth gem is a semi-permanent decorative service including small crystals or gold jewels bonded to the surface of a tooth with dental adhesive.

How long do tooth gems last?

Tooth gems can last anywhere from one month to a year. The longevity of the gem depends solely on the individual. Some factors include following aftercare instructions, gem placement, oral hygiene, diet, and natural acidity of salvia.

How do I remove the tooth gem when I no longer want it?

The gems are designed to fall off naturally. We do not offer gem removal in the salon. If you’d like to remove your gems please contact your dentist or dental hygienist.

What happens if I swallow my gem?

Don’t worry! Our gems are non toxic/lead free.

Is the bonding adhesive safe?

Yes! It’s a dental grade adhesive. It’s the same adhesive dentist typically apply braces with. All of our products in the application process are dental grade.

Can I get a tooth gem under the age of 18?

The parental guardian, with proper identification, must be present at the appointment to receive this service.

Aftercare

First hour: no drinking or eating

First 24 hours: soft foods only, avoid very hot foods, no coffee/tea/soda/alcohol, no smoking, no electric toothbrushes.

Refrain from touching, poking with tongue.

For total transparency in May of 2020, instead of raising our service prices, we are implementing a small service charge (based on the price of complete services), to help cover the cost of employee benefits. Urban Betty is now a Green Circle Salon! We repurpose and recover up to 95% of the resources once considered waste, such as hair, leftover hair color, foils, color tubes, aerosol cans, paper, and plastics. We charge a small Eco Fee ($2.50) to keep this program running. If you want this taken off your bill, please inform the front desk at checkout.
